Volunteer wardens should be supplied with clothing and other equipment that keeps them warm and dry, and easily identifiable by the public and authorities.

Grant Funding for Community Flood Kits

Cornwall Community Flood Forum (CCFF) are able to offer a grant to new Flood Groups to purchase equipment which will support their Community Flood Plans.

Examples of what this grant can be used to purchase are listed below:

• High visibility tabard and trousers (labelled)
• Head-torch
• Box of batteries for head torches (one initial purchase only)
• Whistle (plastic and without a ‘pea’)
• Latex free medical grade disposable gloves (box of S, M and L)
• Handheld radio set and charger (based on 1 per pair and 1 for the Co-ordinator)
• Road signs

We can assess your group’s needs based on your Flood Plan and number of wardens. If there are any items which are not listed here, CCFF and Cornwall Community Resilience Network (CCRN) will be happy to review your request on a case-by case basis.

Please note, this fund is solely for the purchase of equipment that will support your Community Flood Group.

Eligibility

Grants will only be paid to a ‘formed group’ with its own bank account. Otherwise, it will be paid via a local sponsor organisation such as a Parish Council or Village Hall. Under no circumstances will it be paid into a private bank account. The area of benefit will be Cornwall.

Your group is eligible to apply once:

• Your Community Flood Plan has been approved by CCRN.
• Your community has received Community Flood Warden Training.

All communities and applications will be considered, however those areas affected in the most recent flooding will be prioritised in order to help those communities get back on their feet and address any immediate issues.

There is no closing date for applications, however the fund is limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
